NEWTON-AR is our cutting-edge augmented reality (AR) design
and programming software that works with and adds additional
interactive game-based learning activities and experiments to
the kits. Students use contraption playing cards to design,
create, and program Rube-Goldberg contraptions. The same
app integrates with the maker kits to allow kits to work with
virtual contraption designs, to add AR experiments to the kits
for measuring, and to add AR games that use the kits' cards
(included in kits). The app and basic set of contraption building
cards are free to download for iOS devices.
Intended for middle schoolers, Edison represents a more sophisticated tool for creating unique designs and analyzing them through data and plots. The platform permits many different types of projects including bridges, cars, aircraft, rockets, and robots to name a few. With its fun in-game challenges, team collaboration, and hands-on activities, Edison is sure to be a hit with your students!
These NEWTON-AR play cards add new STEM modules to the
basic NEWTON-AR system, allowing you to design musical
contraptions, design robots, engines, and vehicle contraptions.
Individual card packs may be purchased separately or in
classroom packs that contain workspace game mats, 24 sets of
cards, lesson guides, free student and instructor accounts,
instructions, and 20 classroom activities tied to engineering,
computer science, math, and science standards spread across
grades 2-5.
